THE 2018 ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION: WINNING THE BATTLE OF THE MIND
Reported by Sis Vivian Onwuka
Christ the King Catholic Charismatic Renewal Alumni, St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Chaplaincy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, held her 22nd annual national convention, with the theme; ‘Winning the Battle of the Mind’ on the 20th to 22nd of July, 2018, at the Retreat and Pastoral Centre Okpuno (REPACO).
The convention began with the arrival of our alumni members from various parts of the continents. After which the holy mass was celebrated by the CKCCRN Alumni Chaplain Rev. Fr. Irenaeus and Rev. Fr. Collins Nsimoya. The reunion fellowship featured praise and worship, confessions, convention anthem, welcome speech and charge by the Alumni National Coordinator Bro. Damian Odimegwu, accreditation of members from various zones, mother chapter and induction of final year members.
The event also featured inspirational and spiritual messages for the upliftment of our alumni members. The first message titled ‘As a Man Thinketh’ was given by Bro. Timothy Ofoegbu. The speaker enhanced the talk to ‘Overcoming the Grasshopper Mentality’. In his message he advised all CKCCRN alumni members to stop seeing problems, rather begin to think of a solution. You can create opportunities out of every crisis. Know your season and what to do therein. Set goals using the acronym SMART: S-Specific, M-Meaningful, A-Achievable, R-Realistic, T-Time-bound.
Still speaking Bro. Ofoegbu urged all alumni members to vow never to be poor, but create multiple streams of income, have legitimate investments, be professional, mix up, live a healthy life style, evaluate their spiritual life and Opus Dei (the work of God) “Be a person that would bring out time for Gods work”.
The second message was given by Rev.Fr Humphrey Nwajioko, who spoke extensively on the ‘Truth of Christianity and the Beauty of Catholicism’. After which, there were mind blowing testimonies from members on the goodness of God upon their lives.
We also had our family meeting, seed sowing, networking, counseling, recess and photographs. The third session featured praise and worship and a pure ministration titled “Winning the Battle of the Mind” led by Bro. Chinedu Orakwe. A lot of prayer points were raised and members prayed extensively lifting their burden before the throne of mercy. It all ended in praise with a thanksgiving mass at Garba Square officiated by one of the outgoing Chaplain of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Chaplaincy Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Rev. Fr. Christian Umeojilinnaka.
In his homily titled ‘Responsibility’, he said whatever you are asked to do, go and do it. You don’t rest before work, rather you rest after work. Never you overlook your responsibility, take up your responsibility boldly and God will crown you with His blessings. Whatever you miss planning when you should might come back in the future to embarrass you.
During the thanksgiving mass the alumni members danced gloriously to the altar of God offering their gifts and also sent forth the outgoing Chaplain with a fat envelope. After the mass all Alumni members departed to their various zones successfully.
